Long-term supplementation with young coconut juice help prevent bone loss of orchidectomized rats by increasing connectivity density, percentage bone volume and osteoblast-/osteocyte-(ERα-/ ERβ-) immunoreactive cells of the L5 vertebra and femur

چکیده
Adult male rats were orchidectomized (ORX) and treated with 17β-estradiol or young coconut juice (YCJ) for ten weeks. Their femur L5 vertebra dissected, the percentage of bone volume was measured using a Micro-CT scan. Immunohistochemistry used to detect ERα ERβ determine if osteoporotic protective effects YCJ due attachment active components(s) estrogen receptors. It found that both in osteocytes osteoblasts, but not osteoclasts. Compared normal rats, number osteoblast- osteocyte- reactive cells significantly reduced ORX rats. Those numbers restored by injecting estradiol benzoate feeding which dose-related. Significant correlations detected between osteoblast-/osteocyte- (ERα-/ERβ)-reactive vs. serum E2 level. The optimal dose this study 10 mL/kg BW/ day ERα-of osteoblasts 40 BW/day ERβ-of osteocytes. results suggest may be as efficient attenuating osteoporosis, probably being selective receptor moderator.

Background and Aim: Captopril is an oral angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitor extensively used in the treatment of hypertension and heart failure. ACE has been suggested to function in bone cells and might therefore impact orthodontic tooth movement (OTM). Considering the controversy surrounding the effects of ACE and its inhibitors on osseous tissues, we aimed to evaluate the effect o...
متن کاملThe effect of resistance training and date pollen extract on bone tissue density and osteoblast cell proliferation in young male rats
Extended Abstract 1.Introduction One of the tissues that is affected by physical activity is bone. Bone is one of the tissues that needs to receive mechanical load to have normal function as a key factor in strengthening bone mass (2). Evidence shows that the mechanical load resulting from physical activity activates a set of proteins involved in the process of osteoblast activation and inhib...
